At the foot of Mont Blanc,
Where the road ends, the mountain begins
Just a few minutes from the slopes, in the center of the village of Les Contamines-Monjoie, right on the axis of the Tour du Mont Blanc trail, Le Gai Soleil faces the mountain head-on.
Here, no traffic, no hubbub: only the silence of the forest, the crunch of fresh snow, the bells of nearby churches and the horizon outlined by the peaks.
A refuge at the bottom of the valley, nestled in a luminous, high-perched hamlet where you can feel the heart of Mont Blanc beating nearby. All this just a few kilometers from Samoëns, Chamonix or Megève, 1 hour from Geneva and 2 hours from Lyon.

Émilie & Louis, owners of the house.
“Taking over the management of this venue for Les Aubergistes Lyonnais was an obvious choice. We’d been coming to Le Gai Soleil since we were teenagers, and have always loved the resort of Les Contamines-Montjoie, as much for its environment as for the activities it offers. Louis is at ease with the F&B side of things, while I’m more at ease with the administrative side and customer reception.
Our common goal: to make Gai Soleil a place to live for visitors but also, and above all, for locals.”

A partnership like no other!
We’re proud to be partners of the French Telemark Team. Here, we defend a common vision: that of territories sincerely lived, not just crossed, the mountain as a school of humility, authenticity as a compass, a way of affirming that performance and benevolence advance together.
Les Aubergistes Lyonnais stands for a hotel industry on a human scale: rooted in its surroundings, supported by the history and warmth of its teams. Far from soulless chains. Close to people. Close to the real thing.
Telemark skiing follows the same slope: a free glide, an elegant gesture, a ski that refuses rigidity, that favors sensation over standardization, and blazes its own trail.
