Les Contamines in summer
Experience the mountains differently, to the rhythm of fine weather
When the snow melts, Les Contamines-Montjoie reveals a completely different face.
Gentler, more open, deeply alive. Summer vacations in Haute-Savoie take on a special dimension here: that of a village that still breathes, where the mountains are shared unfiltered, between alpine pastures, forests and summits. We come for a weekend… and often, we extend it. A stay in Les Contamines in the Haute-Savoie in summer means rediscovering a form of simplicity: walking in the morning, taking time for lunch on the terrace, exploring again, then returning to the peace and quiet when the light becomes softer.

A lively resort, even in summer
Contrary to popular belief, the resort doesn’t go to sleep once winter is over.
On the practical side, everything is there: open shops, local market, bakeries, restaurants, equipment rental… The village retains a real sense of life, without ever becoming hectic. You’ll find what you need, but nothing superfluous.
Temperatures are ideal: between 20 and 28°C during the day in the valley, cooler at higher altitudes. Perfect for enjoying without suffering from the heat, especially on long walks.

What to do in summer in Les Contamines
It’s hard to get bored. Summer vacations in Les Contamines Montjoie can be adapted to suit all rhythms.
- Accessible or more challenging hikes
- Alpine walks with views of Mont Blanc
- Mountain biking and descents from the lifts
- Swimming at Le Pontet leisure lake
- Trail, outdoor yoga, paragliding…
It’s also an incredible playground for children: nature, animals, wide open spaces. Here, you can run, explore and climb. We live outside.
The passage of the TMB and the famous UTMB
Les Contamines is also a mythical stopover for lovers of long-distance hiking. The famous Tour du Mont-Blanc (TMB) passes through the village, bringing with it a very special atmosphere. Hikers from all over the world, bags on their backs, marked but happy faces… there’s a real energy here.
And then there’s the UTMB, a not-to-be-missed trail event that brings the valley to life every summer.
