la Montagn’hard: the meeting place for athletes
Join us on July 4 and 5, 2026 in Saint-Nicolas de Véroce, above Saint-Gervais, for one of the most technical trail races in the Mont-Blanc massif. No compromises here: the Montagn’hard lives up to its name. This premier event offers around 100 km of trails with over 7,000 m of ascent and descent, taking in ridges, forests, alpine meadows and high mountain passes. Alongside it are a number of other formats to suit all tastes:
- Moins’hard (70 km),
- Mi’hard (50 km)
- Mini’hard (20 km) all with the same signature: relief, real relief, and a mountain that is not so easily tamed.
Departure at dawn. Headlamps on, shortness of breath, first steps still silent. As the day stretches on, the scenery opens up to Mont-Blanc, the Miage glacier and the Beaufortain. The runners pass herds, skirt past alpine chalets, tumble from valley to ridge. At the refreshment posts, volunteers serve soup, cheese, smiles and encouragement. More than just a race, it’s a whole valley coming together.
With almost a thousand participants and a solid team of volunteers, the Montagn’hard has become a must-attend event at the beginning of summer in Saint-Gervais. A race renowned for its technical nature, but also for its sincere, mountain, almost family atmosphere.
From the Gai Soleil, we like to recommend this moment. For the energy it brings to the village. For those tired but happy silhouettes in our garden after the effort. For this living, shared, inhabited mountain.
