Saint Gervais agricultural fair

Every autumn, the village slows down. The bells of the herds ring out a little louder, and the streets of Saint-Gervais slowly change rhythm: the agricultural festival is on its way. An eagerly-awaited local tradition, almost a seasonal ritual, it tells the story of the region’s soul better than a thousand words.

The next edition of the Fête Agricole de Saint-Gervais will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, in the heart of the town center. Free and open to all, the event brings together farmers, breeders, craftsmen and producers from the Mont-Blanc region for a day entirely dedicated to local produce and mountain know-how.

From early morning, the village streets are filled with stalls selling alpine cheeses, artisanal charcuterie, mountain honeys… You’ll come across cows, goats, sheep, sometimes donkeys, and above all farmers happy to talk about their work. The Abondance breed competition, farming demonstrations, folk dances and alphorns give the whole event a resolutely mountain atmosphere.

We stroll along, drink in hand. Children discover the animals. Regulars get together. Restaurateurs bring out the big tables. The accordion plays between two discussions on the weather, grass and the first snows. The agricultural festival here is no mere decoration: it’s local life on display in the open air.

For us at Gai Soleil, it’s one of those moments we like to recommend. Because it tells the story of the valley. Because it puts faces behind the products. Because it reminds us that the mountains are first and foremost a story of people, seasons and patience.
